Crystal’s Strange Breakfast Foods

Crystal likes variety when it comes to breakfast foods, so she eats some things that might surprise you! She likes biscuits and gravy, soft boiled eggs and sausage. Every once in awhile she likes breakfast burritos, but she also likes to eat foods you might not associate with breakfast. Here are some of her favorites:

Macaroni and Cheese

Spaghetti Os

Pie

Ice Cream

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

Once she even wanted black-eyed peas with greens and cornbread!

The Importance of Family During the Pandemic

Daniel, one of our blogging students, is very close with his niece. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, their relationship has become even stronger and more important to him. “I just want to protect her. Keep her safe,” Daniel says. Not seeing friends right now is hard for Daniel, but seeing his niece makes things a lot better. They video chat every day. Just talking, laughing and blowing kisses can make the day seem a little brighter. They haven’t seen each other in person since right before the pandemic, but staying connected is helping them get through the tough times. Close relationships like Daniel and his niece are even more important these days, when we have limited contact with others. Family and close friends can luckily stay in touch via technology. Especially for those of us at greater risk, the isolation can be difficult. So don’t forget to reach out to those who are most important to you.

Community Access in the Age of Corona

Since March and the onset of the COVID pandemic, many of us in Albuquerque, New Mexico and around the world are housebound. For those of us at higher risk, like persons with disabilities, many of our opportunities to connect with our community and the world around us are now very limited. Many of us used to attend day programs and community events. We spent time with friends and did interesting things. Now things are a little more complicated. Luckily for us, technology can bring us together, too. With video chat and online platforms, we can still see some of our friends and do fun things together, like learn about blogging! So wear your mask every day, so that people with disabilities can get back to their communities in person.

Presenting...our new blog!

Welcome to the Arts Connections Blog. We are the Arts Connections Blog class. We meet Tuesdays at 11am mountain time on Zoom. The Arts Connections Mission is to provide access to the arts through community engagement to people of all abilities in Albuquerque and surrounding communities. We started this program during the 2020 COVID pandemic to stay connected with our community. Even though there are no big events to bring us together, we can connect remotely and share our love of the arts. One of the things we want to explore is the art of blogging! We will be sharing program happenings and more through our very own blog!
